Guide for Etsy sellers

Etsy delists real fur on 11 August 2026. Export your listings while they are still active.

What the ban covers

Etsy's updated policy prohibits items made of real animal fur (mink, fox, rabbit and similar) from 11 August 2026. Leather, wool, shearling and sheepskin are not part of the fur ban. If your shop sells real fur, those listings will be delisted.

Why export now

Etsy's CSV export only includes listings that are currently active. Once your fur listings are delisted on 11 August, they will no longer be part of the export. Ten minutes now preserve years of product writing and photography.

How to export (about 10 minutes)

  1. Sign in to Etsy and open Shop Manager.
  2. Go to Settings → Options.
  3. Open the "Download Data" tab.
  4. Under "Currently for Sale Listings", click "Download CSV".
  5. Save the file somewhere safe (cloud drive + local copy).
Note: Etsy occasionally moves these menus. If your screen differs, search Etsy Help for "Download your listing information".

What the CSV contains — and what it doesn't

Included: title, description, price, currency, quantity, tags, materials, SKU, and links to your listing photos.

Not included: your reviews, order history, customer data, shop policies, and draft or expired listings.

Important: the CSV contains photo links, not the photos themselves. Save your original photos separately on your own device — do not rely on the links staying available after delisting.

Check your variations too: after exporting, check whether your variations (sizes/colours) are included; note any that are missing separately.

Keep the file safe

Store the CSV where you will find it again. If you join our founding cohort, you will be able to bring your listing texts and photos over via that CSV in one step — you add the fur-specific compliance details (species, origin, labeling) with us during onboarding. No automatic publishing: every listing is reviewed before it is published.

About Ermelle

Ermelle is a planned, specialised marketplace for real fur, built for Europe's furriers and fur ateliers. We are pre-launch: right now you can reserve your place in the founding-furrier cohort — free to list, one clearly disclosed commission only when a piece sells; the exact terms will be finalised with our payment partner and shared with the founding cohort first. There is real, card-paying demand for quality fur — including established houses in the Gulf.

FAQ

Does the ban cover shearling or leather?

No — Etsy's fur ban targets real animal fur such as mink, fox and rabbit. Shearling, sheepskin, leather and wool are outside the fur ban.

Can Ermelle import my Etsy shop automatically?

No. You export your own data with Etsy's official download feature; later you import listing texts and photos via that CSV in one step and add the compliance details with us. Reviews and order history cannot be transferred.

Is Ermelle live?

Not yet — Ermelle is a planned marketplace, currently in pre-launch. The waitlist is open and free.

What happens to my photos after 11 August?

The CSV only stores photo links. Save your original image files locally as well.
