For furriers displaced by platform policy

Where to sell fur coats online, after Etsy's fur ban

One more platform closes the door on fur

Etsy's policy has prohibited real animal fur — mink, fox, rabbit and similar — since 11 August 2026. It follows a familiar pattern: ASOS banned real fur across its marketplace in 2017, Depop followed in 2019, and Meta excludes fur from its Shops and from paid advertising outright. Sellers who built a business around a specific platform have had to find somewhere else, again.

What a replacement venue actually needs to offer

Traffic alone doesn't make a marketplace a good fit for fur coats. A few things matter more — hold this list up against any venue you are considering, this one included:

  • Accurate species labelling — a listing that says fox should say fox, not a vague catch-all term.
  • Seller verification — buyers of a fur coat want to know there's a checked business behind the listing, not an anonymous account. Ask any platform how it establishes that, and when.
  • A category that won't get cut next — on a general platform, fur is a small line item a single policy update can remove. A marketplace built around fur specifically doesn't have that incentive.
  • A path for your existing catalogue — your product photography and descriptions took years; they shouldn't need to be rebuilt from zero.

Export your Etsy listings before they disappear from your own records

Whatever you decide next, here's the current state: Etsy's CSV export only includes listings that are currently active. Fur listings were delisted on 11 August and dropped out of that export — so the data is only yours to keep if you saved it beforehand. Our step-by-step export guide covers what you can still recover, including what the CSV does and doesn't contain.
