the platforms won't have it.

Ermelle is a planned, independent online marketplace dedicated to real fur. It is being built to give professional furriers a purpose-built home to sell to buyers across the EU-27 — one that won't drop the category. Ermelle does not buy or resell, and no contract of sale is concluded on ermelle.com: the furrier is the seller, the buyer purchases directly from the furrier, and Ermelle does not handle any money. The marketplace is in development; today you can join the founding-furrier waitlist.

General marketplaces have spent a decade shedding fur — ASOS banned it in 2017, Depop in 2019, and Meta excludes it from Shops and paid ads. Etsy delisted real fur — including mink, fox and rabbit — on 11 August 2026. Ermelle is being built specifically for the sellers and buyers this leaves without a home.

Ermelle is for professional furriers and established fur businesses. At launch, vendors are EU-established fur merchants — from the Kastoria fur cluster in Greece to independent artisans leaving general platforms — because each acts as its own responsible person under EU product-safety law. Ermelle curates the catalogue itself: we decide editorially which pieces are published, and every listing is checked for accurate species labelling before publication. “Founding furriers” are the first cohort we onboard from the waitlist.

At launch, Ermelle is built for categories such as mink, fox (red and arctic), rabbit, sable and marten, karakul/astrakhan lamb, shearling and sheepskin, muskrat, nutria, coyote, and farmed chinchilla with documented captive-bred provenance. Ermelle will never list CITES-listed species, seal or other marine-mammal products, or dog and cat fur — anywhere. Wild cats, big cats, gray wolf, otters, vicuña, wild chinchilla and all CITES Appendix II fur are not accepted. See our prohibited-species policy.

Not yet — Ermelle is pre-launch. Right now we're gathering the founding-furrier waitlist and verifying interest. Everything described on this site is planned and subject to change. Join the waitlist and we'll be in touch as founding places open.

Taking part is currently free of charge: no listing fee and no commission during the founding phase. And no surprise category bans.

The buyer pays the furrier directly — Ermelle handles no money. The furrier issues the invoice and is the seller; Ermelle introduces the buyer.

Ermelle ships within the EU-27. Buyers are real-fur customers in the EU; vendors are furriers established in the EU, and each is the seller of the goods it lists. Ermelle is operated from Germany by Timo Loeper, trading as develoeper.com Consulting — see our legal notice.

A generalist marketplace can drop fur with a single policy change — and repeatedly has. Ermelle is built only for this category: fur-specific compliance and provenance, and a web-first model, designed so no one platform's fur ban can force you out.

Register your interest with your email on this page and confirm it by the link we send you (double opt-in). You'll then complete a short application about your atelier and where you sell today. We review it with a human in the loop — not a faceless queue — and follow up as founding places open.

Selling real fur is legal in Ermelle's launch markets, within strict rules — and compliance is central to the platform. Ermelle applies species and geography gating, CITES checks and documented provenance, blocks prohibited species and sanctioned-origin fur, and requires accurate species labelling. Because each vendor is an EU-established seller, each is the responsible person for its own products under EU law.
